NuLeaf Naturals CBD Oil Review

NuLeaf Naturals is arguably one of the best CBD oils on the market. People have claimed that NuLeaf gets “more of the pain” when taking for pain relief compared to other products. A quick search through forums, Facebook or reddit will reveal dozens of cheerleaders for the brand.
Their customer service, shipping, and follow-up are also top-notch. When I got our first vial of Nuleaf Naturals CBD oil it came in a bubble mailer, then inside the mailer, it was double wrapped again in bubble wrap. Might seem overkill, but their bottles are glass and let’s face it the postal service isn’t taking their time in handling most packages.
I received fast follow-up from Nuleaf about my order, a tracking number to follow the shipment as well as a follow-up email to ask how my experience was.
I originally ordered Nuleaf for our dog Sophie, but I’ve since begun taking it myself as well. It did amazing for pain relief when I was suffering from shingles and also is a great sleep aid to zap out any anxiety left from the day and calm my head before it hits the pillow.
In our initial order for Sophie, we received our bottle of CBD oil, a small brochure that speaks to the benefits of CBD oil and how it interacts with your or your dogs Endocannabinoid system as well as a letter with dosage instructions for our dog.

Their CBD Oil’s Composition
Nuleaf’s CBD oil is all hemp. There are no additional carrier oils, just cold-pressed hemp oil, and their proprietary full spectrum CBD concentrates. The CBD in their oil is full plant extract and not synthetic or isolate CBD. While isolates are less expensive, it is a sacrifice in quality for the human or dog that is consuming it.
Nuleaf’s full spectrum CBD concentrate is high in CBD but also contains other cannabinoids such as CBC, CBG, CBDA, and CBDV.
There’s only one type of CBD oil from Nuleaf. Their pet product and their human CBD product is the exact same, just with different dosage instructions. The different products you see on their website are simply larger bottles, which become less expensive per ml as the bottle gets bigger.
All of Nuleaf’s CBD oils are 3rd party lab tested to ensure an accurate amount of CBD by volume in each vial. They also test for 200 pesticides, herbicides, mold, fungi, heavy metals, and mycotoxins. You can contact them for lab results if you’d like to see them. I can tell you from experience they answer support emails within one business day in my experience.

Key Takeaway
When giving your dog CBD oil always go with a human grade product. From my research, much of the hemp that can go into some CBD products come from overseas and the exact source of that hemp is not always known. Nuleaf Naturals hemp comes from a farm in Colorado.

The Taste and Smell
One of the first things I noticed when opening our first bottle of Nuleaf Naturals CBD oil was the scent. Other products, such as Pet Releaf, which we’ve given our dog Sophie, didn’t have a strong cannabis scent, but Nuleaf does.
This is entirely due to the makeup of their oil, but it took me off guard at first. Like when you’re outside somewhere and catch that whiff of marijuana from someone. The taste, as best as I can describe it, similar. It tastes like it smells.
I wouldn’t say it’s bad, just an earthy type of taste. Of course, let’s face it, you’re not buying CBD oil for the taste, you take it for the holistic properties right?
Given the choice of taking NuLeaf’s CBD oil or giving it to our dog, or using a flavored product, I would go for Nuleaf. I don’t want any additional chemicals in the oil if at all possible.

Dosing Guidelines and Information
Dosing guidelines for CBD oil in general are arbitrary at best. Ideally, you or your dog should start with a low dosage and work your way up from there. For dogs Nuleaf provided the following guidelines:

For humans, they give similar dosage instructions, but it also depends on your reason for taking CBD oil.
If you’re taking CBD oil to relieve pain or reduce/eliminate seizures in your dog, then the higher end of the dosage suggestion may be required. If it’s for sleep or anxiety, especially in a human, I can say that 3-4 drops about 20 minutes before bed do a good job for me.

Cons of Nuleaf Natural’s CBD Oil
I’ll admit I’m fishing for downsides to their product, but I always feel that a review that only speaks to how AMAZING or WONDERFUL a product is just isn’t taken seriously.

CONS
On the pricier side compared to competitive products
Dropper takes a bit of getting used to if you’ve used a tincture that measures in ml, not drops
Thinner consistency to some oils I’ve used, especially those using MCT oil (this can make dosing a bit difficult at first)

The dropper is different than the one I was used to. Previous CBD oils we’d used measured oil in ml. A full dropper one ml and we gave Sophie 0.5 ml in the morning and night. With Nuleaf’s oil, we’ve moved to giving her 4 drops in the morning and night. The oil drips out quite quickly, so while holding our dog’s snout and dropping the oil in it took a bit of time to get used to.
The cost for Nuleaf’s CBD oil is on the higher end. However, if you buy a larger bottle you can save substantially. I’ve been looking at buying one of their 100 ml bottles. For me, since I only take it once a day, this would likely last me an entire year. Since the expiry of their CBD oil, when not refrigerated, is 12-months, that would work out just fine.

Results from NuLeaf Naturals CBD Oil
The thing I can’t argue about Nuleaf’s product is it works, at least for what we want. It also keeps our dog Sophie’s seizures in check and helps me with anxiety and sleep. It was also great for reducing the pain and discomfort I had while suffering from shingles.
I’ve used other products and brands, but for now, we’re sticking with Nuleaf. I’m ordering a larger sized bottle now so that I’m cutting down on shipping costs and wait times. Also as you buy a larger bottle you get a break on the cost of the oil as well.
